Maternity Photo Shoot

A couple of weeks ago my partner Mike and I had the Koubaroulis family in studio for a pregnancy photo shoot. Mike and I have worked several projects with BJ who runs Synthesis Multimedia Productions, so it was an honor when he called and asked us to set-up a photo session for his pregnant wife Danielle. Mike did an awesome job shooting the photos, while I captured video clips of the session. We all had the a wonderful time, especially the Koubaroulis’ who loved the photos! Its’ exciting planning and waiting for the arrival of your first child, which Danielle is documenting in her blog “Waiting for Tuesday“. I don’t watch the Tyra Banks show, but Danielle the mom to be got a lot of good tips from the show. Danielle gave us ides prior to the shoot such as the poses, what she wanted to wear and the theme of the photo shoot. Danielle’s input definitely made the session a great one!

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is around the corner. For some of you out there this is a dreaded holiday, because you don’t know what to get your valentine. I wrote a couple of articles for Yahoo! Associated content about 3 great getaways to take your Valentine on, and 5 unique gifts to get your Valentine. I’d also like to inform you that my partner and I are doing a boudoir shoot special. You can read more about that on our website www.woodburnphoto.com . If you’re stuck and need some other ideas, you can also read my other articles:

I also wrote another article in regards to D.C. Restaurant week which runs from January 17th-23rd. I research the top ten restaurants in the D.C. area and made a list of the participating restaurants. When I took my wife out for our anniversary, we paid $200 dollars for dinner at a top D.C. restaurant. During D.C. week lunch rates are $20.11 and dinner rates are $35.11. If I were you, I’d make time to check out some of these restaurants while they’re still affordable. Check out my article:

Securing Your Images

How embarrassing would it be to deliver images to clients via disk or download only to find out the files are infected. Ensuring the security of your images means installing antivirus software and ensuring it remains up-to-date. The most common misconception is that Mac computers are capable of catching viruses, WRONG!!!!!! Apple currently has a small portion of the computer market, so hackers focus more on the large slice of the pie, Windows computers. Companies such as Symantec offer antivirus solutions for Windows and Mac computers. For those unwilling or unable to afford antivirus software, many vendors offer free antivirus programs. Stay tuned for a future post on the best free antivirus programs. For more information, review some of the following articles written by me:

New Year Resolution – Increase Business

John Porter

John Porter - Image by Mike Burns

Welcome 2011! I’m thinking of changing the name of my blog from “John Porter Photography” to something else. I do a lot more than photography, and the name John Porter Photography is not striking enough! I’m a freelancer! First and foremost I earn a  living as an Information Technology Specialist, photographer, and writer. When I’m not mitigating computer risk, I have a camera in my hand, and when I’m not creating images for WoodBurnPhoto.Com or myself, I’m writing eHow articles for DemandStudio.Com. My eventual goal is to be able to travel and work from home or anywhere I please!

DemandStudios.com is a great source of passive income in that I’m able to write or blog and generate passive income through revenue sharing. I can research and write about various topics, for the time being, I’ll stick to what I know although I find research fun! Expect to see numerous articles from me on eHow.com, AOL’s seed.com, WoodBurnPhoto.com, and ThroughTheCage.Com. Below are my recent articles:

I’ll be posting all of my work whether it be my articles, photography, on this blog, as well as general blog topics. Prior to the site crashing, the only content on this blog was my photography work. Look me up on facebook.com – John Porter Photography, and like my page to follow my progress through the year. If you’re interested in hiring me for a project I’m ready!

The Site is Running Again!

Greetings!

I’m back after recovering from a technology which caused me to have to rebuild my website. Since the last post on the old site I’ve had a few gigs such as the 1st Annual Keg Kill at the Might Pint in Washington D.C, Teardrops to Rainbows Christmas Dinner for children with cancer,  a few family portrait sessions and a group portrait with The Miracle Center of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. I have have lot of posting to do….oh how could I forget, I also organized and participated in a photo shoot at Gold Medal Grappling in Woodbridge, Va. UFC fighter Kris McCray was on location for the Gold Medal Grappling shoot, so stay tuned for the images.
